Writing
Elena began her debut novel, Everything Before Gia, in 2021. What began in scrapbooks of daily paraphernalia, musings and images gradually evolved into over 600 pages of rich, unpublished material. Everything Before Gia is a family saga, a queer mystery, a tender romance and a social commentary on transgender rights. Elena aims to complete her manuscript in 2025 using these materials and more.

In 2021, Elena was awarded the Cromarty Prize at the University of Melbourne for the “best essay in any first year English subject.”2019
In 2019, Elena was shortlisted for the Scroggin Prize in both poetry and creative non-fiction categories for her works Circles and Winter in Shorts respectively.
